Planning a trip abroad? Some destinations require specific vaccinations before you arrive, and others strongly recommend them. Getting vaccinated isn’t just a formality – it’s the difference between a good holiday and a medical emergency.

At HealthPoint Pharmacy, we carry 26 travel vaccines across our two locations in Colwall (Malvern Hills) and Bewdley. Our pharmacists are trained in travel health and will talk you through exactly what you need based on where you’re going, how long you’re staying, and what you’ll be doing while you’re there.

Every travel consultation is free. You only pay for the vaccines themselves.

We offer same-week appointments and can usually fit you in within a few days. If you’re leaving soon, call us directly and we’ll do what we can.

FAQ

Frequently Ask Questions

Ideally, 6 to 8 weeks before you leave. Some vaccines need multiple doses spread over weeks, and your body needs time to build immunity. That said, even 2 weeks out is worth it for single-dose vaccines. If you're leaving sooner than that, call us and we'll work out what's still possible.

No. Our pharmacists can prescribe and administer travel vaccines directly under Patient Group Directions (PGDs). You don't need to see your GP first.

Yes. The consultation itself costs nothing. You only pay for the vaccines you choose to have.

Yes. We're a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. After your vaccination, we'll issue the International Certificate of Vaccination (the yellow card) that certain countries require for entry.

Some vaccines are safe during pregnancy and some aren't. Your pharmacist will go through this with you during the consultation and recommend what's appropriate based on your situation and destination.

Your passport (so we can check any country-specific entry requirements), any previous vaccination records you have, and your travel itinerary - dates, destinations, and what you'll be doing there.

Yes. Bring your full itinerary, including stopovers, and your pharmacist will plan the vaccines for every country in one consultation. Many vaccines can be given at the same visit, so you'll usually need fewer appointments than you'd expect. The consultation itself is free.

Let us know as soon as you can. A new destination, a longer stay or a change in activities, such as trekking or working with animals, can change what you need. We'll review your plan and only recommend extra vaccines if your new itinerary calls for them.

Not necessarily. Many vaccines last years, and some last for life. Bring your vaccination record, or any details you have, and we'll check what's still valid. That way you only pay for the doses you actually need, rather than starting courses again unnecessarily.
Some are. Doses, schedules and minimum ages differ between vaccines, and a few aren't suitable for very young children. We'll advise on what's right for each family member and plan their appointments together. Children's vaccines are priced separately where a paediatric version exists.

Often, yes. Single-dose vaccines such as hepatitis A, typhoid, yellow fever and meningitis ACWY start working within 1 to 2 weeks, so even a week out is worth it. Call us and we'll fit you in where we can.
